Wow! The first week of the trip was absolutely amazing! There is 17 of us- including our two leaders- and we all bonded so quickly! during training camp, we spent a lot of time in During, learning about the culture, listening to teachings, and worshiping. I have loved getting to know each member of my team and be surrounded by such a God loving group. I am also really enjoying learning how to spend quality and intentional time with the Lord. I am learning what it looks like to pursue a deeper and more personal relationship with God through constant prayer, worship, and time in the word.
I also got baptized on the last night of training camp! I was baptized when I was a baby and with my whole family when I was 10 years old- but I had not made the decision to be baptized on my own. Going into the baptism I wasn’t sure if I felt like it was my time or if the Lord was calling me to be baptized. However, it was still something I felt was on my heart. After hours of prayer and worship, three people on my team and one girl I didn’t know asked me if I was going to be baptized that night. So, I prayed some more and then it finally clicked. I felt that four different people asking me about baptism was a sign from God saying it was my time. I prayed some more with my team, stepped into the water and had leaders pray over me, and then I was baptized. Coming out of the water I felt so free and so full of joy and love. It truly was an unexplainable feeling. But I can say God is literally so cool and so real! I am so excited to continue pursuing a relationship with the Lord and see what He has in store for my team and I. In the Psalm 86 it says, “For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God. Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name”. God I love you and am so thrilled for this opportunity to serve you!
