I can’t believe I am over halfway done with this trip! Going into the trip I thought a month was such a long time and I was not sure if I was going to enjoy being gone for so long. But boy was I wrong! This trip is flying by and a month is not near enough time to spend serving God’s people.
During the week, my team and I do door-to-door evangelism where we visit homes within a community and build relationships with the family. Our goal is to show God’s love, talk about their relationship with Jesus, share the Gospel, and pray for them. I have really enjoyed getting to hear all the stories from the Haitian and Dominican families about their family, life, trials, blessings, and testimonies. Praying for these families and sharing the gospel has been such a special and memorable experience. At the end of a house visits, the lady we talked to decided she wanted to invite Jesus into her heart! We were able to give her a bible and pray for her new relationship. It was amazing! God is doing such good things here! In the afternoons, we run a kids program within the community where kids come and play sports, color, and hear a bible story. I love playing games and hanging out with all the kids for a few hours. They are so precious and full of joy and energy.
Throughout the trip, I continued working on spending intentional time in the word and listening for the Lord’s voice. I am learning how to be still and listen to what He is calling me to do. I have also learned a lot about God’s limitless love and goodness throughout the trip. 1 corinthians 13:4-8 says, “love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. it does not insist on its own way; it is not deniable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endured all things. Love never dies”. God’s love is truly abundant and never ending and ai am so thankful for this opportunity to love on His people! God is so good!
Please keep praying for my team and I to be attentive to the Lord’s voice and obey Him. Pray for me to fix my eyes on Him and remember the reasons why I am here. Pray for intentional and purposeful time with the Lord, in fellowship, and in prayer.
